Sometimes we just don’t have the time to take a trip to the nail salon, or we forgot about a party thats going to start in a couple of hours. Whatever the case may be, doing your own nails can be frustrating for some people. Whether it is how one hand comes out a lot better than the other or how you ruin your nails before they dry, the tips in this post is going to help lower the level of frustration.
Use cuticle oil before and after you cut them to prevent hardening or white cuticles that can ruin the whole look.
Use a clear base coat. I understand that sometimes we get lazy or we are running short on time, but especially when dealing with dark colors you don’t want to stain your nail or the skin around it. Apply a thin layer so it dries quicker. Preferably use a quick dry one, but make sure it goes on smoothly or else no matter how well you do with the color, you’ll have a bumpy mani pedi.
Paint your dominant hand first. For example if you’re a righty, paint your right hand first. This way, you eliminate the chances of ruining on hand while painting the other and it makes things a little easier. (If you’re ambidextrous then you won’t really need this and you’re lucky).
Apply the color in thin coats. This can be a little difficult when you’re using your non-dominant hand but it makes the drying process a lot quicker.
After using a fan or blowing on your nail or whatever it is you do to help them dry, dunk your nails into ice cold water. Keep them there for a little while or as long as you can keep them there. Then fan dry them until the water dries and VOILA! You’re nails are hardened! Just beware of zippers. I hate zippers. Zippers ruin everything. Try and dress yourself and pack your purse prior to doing your nails. If you plan on wearing skinny jeans or jeans or anything with a zipper, do anything zipper related prior to painting your nails.
If you can, use quick dry nail polishes.
Thats all the tips I have for you and if I ever come across more, I’ll be sure to share them with you guys as soon as I find a few more because I’ve been more willing to do my own nails after coming across these.
